The Squad is perhaps the ultimate Funboard Surfboard now available in two styles with even more features to put a smile on your face, original Simmons Hybrid or the new Planning hull Squad 2…
THE SQUAD to put it simply our most successful board ever, the fun your get from a Squad is unlimited it has not boundaries of wave type or size it just shreds in any condition you want to place it in. The design is well over a decade old now and literally thousands of surfers enjoy this board all over the planet. It is wickedly fast and maneuverable, it skates on the wave like a Mini Simmons but holds on a steep face like a Step Up, it can be your perfect travel companion for those far off barrels or your go to summer slop wave board you can depend on. The multiple fin setup has you covered whatever your poison. The Squad Features a Hull to flat bottom like a mini simmons witch leads to a hulled V diamond tail with multiple fin options, you can order Single fin with Quad or Tri/Quad. You must ride this board a bit shorter than you think you need it has plenty of volume and the shape gives lots of lift so to get the best out of the board it’s best ridden smaller, if your not sure just email me and i will help you choose a size. The shape id basically a Mini Simmons if you cut it off from the front fins i added the extra 8 inches of rail to the tail to increase the suitability of the board to more wave types, it has a full nose with straight rails for speed and lift, it has a slight S deck to keep the volume down in the nose and the rails are quite boxy in places to allow the board to release from a wave face for snappy turns. Sizes are available from 5ft6 to 6ft6 in varicose widths and thicknesses, this is a hand shaped surfboard so volume is an approx estimate based. Check out the video below for more info.
SQUAD 2 this is a new version of the Squad surfboard with a slimmer nose and more refined shape to it plus the new Planning hull bottom design which rides with a more conventional feel to the older version. The new design is a really nice update and to be fair feels like a totally different board to ride this is why i am keeping both shapes, each one has it’s own unique features and ride qualities, the Squad 2 rides more in the wave than on the wave due to the new hull, it rides great off the tail for more shortboard style moves and turns, this is also because of the more pointed nose witch eliminates more volume from the nose area. It comes with the same fin setups as the original board, same tail as well giving you that perfect lift on the turn. Both boards are very similar in size and this version should also be ridden smaller to get the feel out of the board.
The Squad 2 feels amazing to ride it can easily out catch bigger boards onto a wave, it’s speed is impressive but whats more important is the way this board turns off the tail, the Planning hull lifts the board so the back 3rd is all you are riding giving you maximum back foot control. The more pointed nose is easy to duck dive witch has it’s advantages when the waves are a bit bigger, all in all this is a great upgrade to an already good surfboard design.
