Always trying to keep up with the latest in Surfboard construction, we have been busy setting up for our next step in developing our own Eco Surfboards. Natural fibers like Hemp cloth are becoming more popular and why not! The Flex and ride quality are great, the hemp cloth is super tough and the weight can be light when you use the Vacuum bagging technique over an EPS blank.For our Eco Surfboard construction we are using Marko foam 100% recycled EPS together with Sicomen Surf Evo epoxy which contains over 40% plant based ingredient and 100% plain weave Hemp cloth. The Better for the Planet Surfboards will all be 100% hand shaped to try and reduce the carbon footprint even further.For now we are concentrating on the mid range Surfboards while we practice the Vacuum technique, the Hemp cloth gives you a warm cream color to the board with flecks of threads running through he cloth, it’s quite a unique feature a very natural look to your Surfboards skin. The Hemp Surfboard has a nice feel to the paddle and ride, it has a strong flex and great buoyancy or pop, still being tested for durability we will soon be reporting back on that and things like price and availability.
