The New Squid Surfboard a dynamic planning hull but can it replace the Thing?
This new shape was designed in collaboration with NE Surf School instructor Chris Churchill,. Chris was always a fan of the Hydrodynamic Thing which is an awesome performance Simmons type surfboard but we wanted to see if we could improve the ability of this design in more hollow surf.

We wanted a more slender design and decided a planning hull would give the right lift for the board, not to much as you can make the board loose the feel of the wave, the balance is to give the board the right lift and wave penetration to handle the steeper more hollow waves up here in the North East. The tail is a rounded winged design to give a little more hold for the Twin or twin with trailer fin setup ( other fin set ups should be available when the board is released for order). The nose is taken straight fro the Thing only a slimmer version so you go shorter when you order this board, ideally if you normally ride a 6ft then maybe a 5ft10″ or even 5ft8″ will do. All in all we are pretty impressed with the new Squid as you can see by the image of Chris surfing it does exactly what was intended.
